“Capital G” Good

We had a fun-filled start to the school year and have made so many memories in the past few months.  The annual sleigh ride (picture above!), the music lessons with Ms Tamara, the pre-school room with Ms Clare, the field trips organized by Ms Stephanie, the activities dreamed up by Ms Natalia – they say it takes a village, and that could not be more true!  We are so very blessed with community members who are willing to share their talents.  When those three pillars of school, family and church are all working in unison, it bears such “capital G” Good fruit.

We continue to welcome new families into the fold, so if you have been hesitant to join us because it’s halfway through the year – hesitate no longer!  It’s always a good time to come and see.  Just email us at admin@heavenlykingacademy.ca for all details.

Our Day with Dr Jeannie event in October was a great success - thanks to all of you who attended and made it so!  The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and we are all set to continue the momentum with our next HKOA speaker series featuring Fr Geoffrey Ready.  Fr Geoffrey is the director of Orthodox Christian Studies at Trinity College, and co-host of a popular podcast on Orthodox liturgy and life, “Enacting the Kingdom”.

The day’s topic is “Salvation is from the Jews”; we will be exploring the common roots Christianity and Judaism share, encouraging engagement between the two traditions, and underlining the importance of correcting historical inaccuracies and prejudices.  In doing so, we will renew the basis of our Christian faith and practice.

The event takes place on Saturday, February 24th at St George Orthodox Church, 121 Harvard Avenue East, from 10am-3:30pm.  You can find full details and purchase your tickets at salvationisfromthejews.eventbrite.ca

With love in Christ,
