With the Feast!

Greetings with the Feast!  Whether you are celebrating the Nativity of the Lord, or celebrating Theophany, it is a blessed time of the year for us all!

Since the last time we sent a newsletter, Heavenly King Orthodox Academy has been very busy operating our bi-weekly co-op and hosting monthly events.  Thanks to all the families that were able to join us for our Kid City night in November and the sleigh ride in December!  Seeing the joy on the children’s faces and seeing families make connections with other Orthodox families, from churches all over the city, makes all of the hard work worth it.  We encourage you to join us for these events!  We most regularly advertise them on our Facebook and Instagram pages, but if you are not on social media (and we applaud you for that!!!), you can also keep up to date by following our events page on the website: www.heavenlykingacademy.ca/calendar

As for the HKOA co-op, it is alive and well.  We meet every other Tuesday at St George Orthodox Church, with our next session starting this Tuesday, January 10th.  During our lessons, we pray together, have open and engaging discussions based on the themes in our workbook, as well as an age-appropriate craft to drive the lessons home.  Having wrapped up our unit on worship before the break, this week we’ll be starting our unit on prayer.  If you are homeschooling this year, or would like to consider it for next year, you are welcome to visit us to see if you’d like to be a part of the Heavenly King Academy.  There is no cost to join us; we are here to support you and your children in your learning journey!  Contact Elissa at admin@heavenlykingacademy.ca for more information.

At our next school meeting, we’ll be planning the spring’s monthly events.  I think a games night might be in the works, and a homeschooling curriculum swap/sale!  If you have ideas for events, please send your suggestions our way!  We love to hear from you.
