Everything should be secondary

“With us everything should be secondary compared to our concern with children, and their upbringing in the instruction and teaching of the Lord.”

– St John Chrystostom

These words really struck home this week.  Everything should be secondary compared to the bringing up of children to know and to love and to serve the Lord.  Note that St John doesn’t say “our own children”, but all children.  We all of us, whether we have young ones or not, are called to help raise the children around us.  This school that we are building together is such a gift to our youth.  The youth of today, and the youth of tomorrow.  From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of it.

Our first Spirit Days event was a success!  It was a true joy to watch the little ones run and play and engage so well with each other.  Plus, it gave us parents time to connect, too!  If you have children or grandchildren, please join us.  The $20 admission fee covers your entrance for the next three events, and considering admission is usually $15 for each entry, it’s quite the deal.  Also remember that these events are not just for children who are committed to attending Heavenly King.  Our vision is to have these events regularly, to connect our children to other Orthodox children and start building strong bonds of community.
