Another exciting week flew by for us here at Heavenly King Orthodox Academy, a big highlight of which was interviewing teacher candidates for the 2022/23 school year! What a heartfelt joy to meet with such thoughtful, knowledgeable, like-minded, and faithful individuals, full of excitement and a desire to participate in this important work. It was striking to note that our candidates come from a wide spectrum of Orthodox communities, reflecting our pan-Orthodox identity through and through. We are truly blessed!
A few items to take note of:
- Our wine raffle and 50/50 tickets are still available for purchase! Thanks to those of you who have supported us so far. Some people had trouble with the link in last week’s newsletter, and after speaking to the experts, we are pretty sure it was our excitement, and more specifically the exclamation mark at the end of the link that caused all the problems. - We would like to start building community between the Orthodox families in Winnipeg, and so are offering a series of “Spirit Days”, every Thursday during the month of February. All of the pertinent information is in the attachment below, but let us just say that we would really love to meet you there. The children can play while the adults chat, and we will have student applications available! Eek! It’s so exciting. Please pre-register by sending an email to admin@heavenlykingacademy.ca
- St Mark Coptic Orthodox Church graciously invited Elissa to present to their families about the school, and posted the recording publicly! You can view it here: https://youtu.be/QKzz8KdC9NU
- If you would like for us to speak directly to your community, please send us an email to request a presentation. We would be honoured to share our excitement!
- We are having our first Member’s Meeting this Wednesday, January 26th at 7pm. If you would like to be included more actively and regularly in decision-making, and have a hand in choosing our Board of Directors (or would even like to be considered for the Board of Directors!), again please send us an email and we will send you the zoom link for the meeting. The only requirement to be a Member is a desire to further the goals of the school. If you’re reading this, you likely meet that requirement! We’d love to have you join us.
